That's a good point, Heidi...with 15 horses, the lower ranking ones are gonna have a hard time getting to the groceries.  Plus, they'll mow through that one bale in no time.

Actually, with that many horses, I'd put in at least two, well spaced apart.  I wintered 20* broodmares together on big bales, and always put in three at a time.  I don't like to have more than 6-8 horses per bale.

Yes, you can just put one of the big bales in the pasture with the 15 horses, and when it's gone, put out another one.  For the paddocks with only a couple of horses, these large square bales do break up into "mega flakes" that you can feed.  You'll just need to play around with them till you figure out the amount to feed, unless you already feed by weight, which will make it easy to make the adjustment.
