RE: [RC] Proud Flesh Knees - heidi

I recently reclaimed a horse on a feed lease that had
injured him knees in a fall on pavement. The people
had the vet out to treat him twice but when I got him
home and unbandaged his knee it was inflamed the size
of a half orange with a deep fissure in the middle. I
just scrubed the proud flesh and tried to get into the
fissue and I quess I did as it started draining. Wet
to dry saline and redressed the wound. I have an
appointment at the vet today to get restarted on his
healing. Any suggestions. I swear by Schrieners for
previous wounds but never this deep.

Given that it is draining, I would recommend not putting ANYTHING on it
until your vet has had an opportunity to take a look at it. The
cleaning with saline is fine, but then just wrap it up until he/she
sees it.

Heidi
