Every time I boot my machine there's, like, 40 more RC msgs. Being new, I thinks, "They can't keep this up during ride season, can they!?" So give us ideas for the "Great Cheap Ride"
***Desert Gold was billed as a "no frills ride." But to this old backpacker,
who used to live for 5 days on a quart Ziploc of gorp and 3 pouches of
freeze dried pilaf, it was quite luxurious.
There was no human-potable water supplied x/ for volunteers. The 1st nite
ride dinner--Thanksgiving!--was a potluck. The 2nd night was cheese &
crackers & BYOB.
Also the vet "cards" were actually just plain white paper.(One
enterprising junior backed it with duct tape.) As it rained the first day,
the sheets, designed to last 3 days, were a soggy mess and doubled as toilet
paper and handy wipes. More savings.
A previous thread noted that a lot of people don't wear underwear on
rides. So save on ribbons by using shredded panties.
Another idea is for everyone to bring a completion award to give to
someone else--kind of like the Secret Santa exchange at office Xmas parties.
You could limit the price to $5-$10.
You could call it "The Cheap's Gait Ride." Like, uh, "cheap skate." <groan>
