I think the elevator ride was a concept that was well intentioned, sounded good on paper but when the rubber hit the road didn't work out. People don't tend to elevate. As for the "reverse elevator," if you want to ride a 100, go out and prepare for a 100 and go for it.

While I sort of understand the reasoning, I've never been pleased with the "completion only" if you elevate. If the horse is doing well why should they give up a top ten 50 if they go for the 75? Or the 100?


And the number of riders that would elect to go on at 50 miles if they knew the miles were secure with the reverse elevator format? Too easy to quit and still get miles.
Go for the 100, or don't start at all.
