RE: [RC] [RC] Bumper pull Living Quarters - Karen Snodgrass

I think this is a neat idea for the single rider. When I am not at CTR or
LD rides, my family camps in a 26 ft travel trailer and at 26 ft, it is one
of the shortest RV's out there. So in reality, pulling 17 - 20 ft would be
nothing different. Our F350 hauls the RV with no problems. The e150
conversion van has trouble with big hills, but that is the lesser engine
size. One must use a weight distribution hitch system to haul a rig this
long. They work well in stabilizing the load. Oh, and we had to get air
shocks on the van as well because it was not set up to haul a load. (and
for what it is worth, the tongue weight on my 2 horse bumper pull is more
then the RV, enough that I can't haul the horse trailer with the van as I
don't have the weight distribution bars for the horse trailer.)

I haven't seen one either but I'll also spout off. That's a lot of
length to pull as a BP. I'm no engineer but I'd wonder about the torque
on the truck axle/suspension as well as weight distribution. Also, from
the specs, it seems like there's much less good living space than in a
camper. If I had to have a bumper pull, I'd get a nice camper to go
with it.

These look pretty interesting. I have not seen or bought one, but I'll
spout off anyway.

If I'm reading the specs correctly, the length of a 3H bumper pull with
lq would be 20' 4". A 2H would be 17' 3". Both numbers without the
tongue. Wonder how much the LQ weighs?

I don't see that this floorplan would work for more than one person,
though. My husband or I often take a nap at various times
during a trip.
This arrangement would keep us from doing that without making the LQ
pretty much inaccessible to the non-napping person.

Any idea on cost?

Personally, I don't like the idea of no stove; unless the
microwave runs
on propane. ;-) Camping stoves are easy to deal with, though.

Interesting concept.
