RE: [RC] anybody know the answer to this? - heidi

Just another "take" on the same stuff that people have been saying already, but another aspect of this is that if this unentered rider goes down the trail step for step with her entered friend, but does NOT go through vet checks, etc. and continues on a horse that has a problem--and if that horse ends up dead on the ground, it is AERC and the sport of endurance riding that publicly get a black eye out of it.

And if she DOES go through the vet checks (which in self-defense, the vets and RM might have her do due to the above) and she isn't entered, then Ed had the right word for her--she is a chiseler.

Someone asked if her entered friend could be disqualified for her actions--and the answer is yes.

I made exactly those points to her.  Unfortunately, I think she and her
friend had already left for the ride by the time I replied.  We may
think ride fees are high but they do cover a lot of services we hope we
never need.  In addition to the legality of it, riding along side seems
like an imposition on already overworked and underpaid ride personnel
because, as you say, they aren't likely to turn their backs on someone
who needs help.  It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.
