It depends on the horse and the
saddle. I have one horse that doesn't appear to need a breast collar, but
others that I wouldn't dare ride without one. Some saddles fit some horses
perfectly and do not slide, the same saddle may not fit a different horse.
It isn't worth the risk unless you have proved the combination.
Is a breast collar also needed with an english saddle, or are
we talking about western saddles ? Gosh, sound like a dumb question now that I
wrote it out, by hey, I'll throw it out there anyway lol
