[RC] How Do YOUR Endurances Horses Live? - Carolyn Burgess

My endurance horse lives with our three other horses: a retired Arab trail horse, an Appaloosa CTR/endurance horse in training (was a roper) and my 100 mile prospect.  We rent a barn that is about 20 minutes from my house.  I live in a suburb and don't have the land for horses.  We hope to change that soon.

They are stalled at night and are turned out for around 12 hours a day.  They have had the option of 24/7 turn out and do not like it.  They are kicking the doors down when we arrive in the evening.  They want to come into the stalls at night.  Two of them are former race horses, one would stay in 24/7 if allowed and if her stall were full of goodies and lots of shavings.

They have always had free choice hay but this will be the first year they will have limited access to pasture.
