RE: [RC] How do your endurance horses live? - Chastain, Shannon L.I have ~4 acres with 3 separate pastures. My horse are out 24/7 my "winter" pasture has a run in shed with the opening to the south but the horses stay out even in most snow storms??? They use the shed more for hot weather then they do cold. The pastures are mostly brome a low sugar grass. I have my 10 year old competition horses and my 21 year old mare they both get small amounts of a Ultium/beet pulp/whole oats/corn mixture twice a day. Free choice brome hay in the winter. I live in the Missouri River Valley bluffs and there is not a flat place on the whole 4 acres. I do trailer to ride I am one of the those wimpy people that does not care for riding alone, although we did at one of the trails last Friday and I actually really enjoyed it. The Cowboy Ed one rein stop and the Pirelli's is starting to pay off!!! My 9 year old grandson is spending the summer with us and he is going to a few CTR's with me and he will ride my (his) 21 year old Arab Mare. So with him at my house we will be doing more at home riding.
