[RC] Trainer/Advisor - West Region - Alisanne Steele

Ok, now that I’ve got my feet wet, I have a million questions and I am looking for a Trainer/Coach/Advisor.

Man this stuff is addicting!

I used to run long distance (3 marathons & 1000’s of x-country/track miles) and don’t know how my previous training can best apply to my horses training, and I want us to have fun, but don’t want to push him too hard/too soon.?

I have many questions like:

??????????? -How often to race - Every 2-3 weeks?

??????????? -Should we do multi-days?

??????????? -How long is too long this first year – Is a slow, mid-season, 100 too much?

??????????? -Are our workouts appropriate (4-5 days arena [45min – 1.5 hours] and 1 long ride [10-15 miles] week)?

??????????? -Is it better to let him run his pace (I am monitoring with HRM/GPS unit), or hold him back?

??????????? -And so on, and so on…

I have seen similar questions posted, but answers are all over the map.? I would like to work with someone who can get to know me and my horse and help us answer these questions as is best applied to our particular circumstances.

I am in the Reno, Nevada area and have ridden 3 rides on my 5 year old ¾ Arabian ¼ TWH gelding:

??????????? Rides of March – 30 miles – 4:50 – 7th / BC

??????????? Square Nail – 50 miles – 7:30 – 40th

??????????? High Desert Classic – 30 miles – 3:05 1st

My next scheduled race is “Land of the Neversweats” 2 x 25 miles

If any of you can recommend someone that would be a good Coach/Advisor I would be in your debt. J

Thank you!
