[RC] ? for the vets - riding a horse on antibiotics - Kristi Schaaf

Long story short - my horse had two melanomas removed
from his HQ area almost two weeks ago. Four days after
they were removed, he developed a bad infection at
both sites, with heat and swelling in both legs. The
vet put him on TMP/SDZ antiobiotic (I 'think' I got
the intials right); he's now on day 7 and the
infection seems to be under control and there no
longer is any heat/swelling. He has one more dose of
antibiotics to take. My question: we're leaving tonite
for a 3 day camping trip and I'm wondering how much
riding would be ok for him. Obviously, since he's
winding up a battle with a bad infection, he's not at
his best and I need to take it easy. But does anyone
know HOW easy?
Thanks, Kristi iluvdez at yahoo dot com

Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off)
