Re: [RC] Tendon sheath injury - magnumsmom

Hi Andrea,

The prognosis is probably pretty good. Here is my
story... I'll try to keep it short:

Blue had an injury to the tendon sheath on the outside
of his ft rear (if I remember right). I think he got stepped
on... maybe. Anyway, the ultrasound showed minor
damage... a strain, not a tear per say.

I ran him through the UC Davis tendon protocol... flat
rest, hand walking, 6 - 8 weeks. Re-ultrasound showed
totally healed. Started back slow under saddle per the
protocol. That injury has been absolutely fine ever
since... never an issue, probably won't re-occur.

I did put him on Adequan injections / joint supplements
as it helps the tendon move smoothly through the
tendon sheath. This happened when he was 8 (I think).
He's 14 now. Hope this helps,

Kathy Myers
in Santa Fe, NM
