After loosing a couple of pairs of prescription
shades on the trail, and finding that even with Grookies, my shades kept sliding
down my nose, I purchased a pair of sports googles (like the ones that handball
players use). I had them fitted with the self darkening
lenses.
Now I can put them on at 0 dark thirty in the
morning and not take them off all day.
When I became old and needed bifocals to read maps
etc., I had them fitted with bifocal lenses. I had the dispensing
optician, make the bifocal part very small, and very far down. This has
worked out great for riding. I can see the ground around it, but still see
close when I have to. The near vision part is to small to be comfortable
for reading the Sunday Times, but fine for riding.
