[RC] resistant worms - Nancy

I have been a bad horse mom. I let this go too far and now Lyric has rubbed
her tail almost off. My vet tells me it is due to resistant pin worms. Has
anyone had this too? I am told the worms are resistant to ivermectin. My
vet started noticing this last spring and Lyric was one of her early cases.
I have done a 5 day Panacur purge and she is still rubbing. The next step
is to give a dose of Strongid orally and rectally, wash the butt once or
twice a day (to remove the saliva, etc) and oral anit-itch RX ( sorry can
not remember the name starts with an A). Any other ideas? Should I get her
a tail "wig"? Feeling very guilty. I am concerned that Lyric should not
compete ( LD) until a week or two after she stopping itching to avoid
metabolic problems. Am I nuts? Any ideas? Many thanks,
Nancy Reed
