[RC] what to do about lame horse - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

My husband and I manage a cooperative pasture, which isn't exactly the same,
but we do have comparable problems. We have a lease agreement with each
boarder which specifically states that if a horse is suffering in any way we
have the authority to call the vet out at the owner's expense. This has come
in handy on several occassions. We have never had to call the vet, though we
have used it as a threat! The owners will then call the vet themselves. When
this happens, we also make sure that one of us is there for the appointment to
make sure that the vet is given ALL of the necessary information and that the
horse then receives the prescribed treatment.
