Probably because Alaska doesn't (usually) have the extreme fire danger that we've had in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Montana, Idaho, not to mention Texas, Oklahoma, and California, for the last several years.

Okay, well you and the Alaska Park Service and Alaska Forest Service (ie smoke jumpers)  have a differences of opinion.
