Re: [RC] Camping and freezing - Sisu West Ranch

"....Another seaon in tents on the ground, freezing..."

There is another possibility
  1.  Purchase a set of good ground pads.  Thermarest brand are available at good camping/backpacking stores in several quality levels.
  2. Purchase some really good semi-mummy sleeping bags.  I endorse Wiggy's system (http://www.wiggys.com/).  Many try to get buy with a bag from WalMart and wonder why they are cold.
  3. Wear a stocking cap, long johns, and wool socks to sleep
  4. Eat a candy bar just before retireing.
  5. Exercise until you feel warm before retireing.
It is remarkable how proper gear will increase comfort.  By the way sleeping in a truck bed, unless you put at least an inch of rigid foam in the bed is even colder than the ground. The steel conducts the heat to the air.
