I carry an emergency kit on trail too....  I'd also love to see what others carry in theirs as you might carry something I don't...but should.

I've never forgotten the story I read on ridecamp last year? about the rider who was thrown and broke her arm.  She used her bra strap as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and used her water to keep her blood pressure up.  I always carry water with me, and I always ride with a bra on!  My friends thank me for that  :-0 (the bra part).

I am also thinking of adding a collapsible bucket to my pack.  Last summer, a rider brought her black German Shepard (true confessions - there were 6 "loose dogs" with us (gasp!!) and 2 were mine).  The Shepard got heat stroke out on the trail.  All the other dogs were fine.  I was the only one with water.  We gave the dog my water and then hoisted the (very large) Shepard up on the shortest horse and handwalked the horse about 1/2 mile to a small stream.  We laid the dog in the stream and poured water on it using my water bottles for almost an hour.  Having a collapsible bucket would have been more efficient The dog recovered and the rider's husband arrived in their nice clean SUV and carried the wet, muddy dog home with him.
