Yes but back then we were led to believe the entire petroleum infrastructure
of the US may be non-functional. Now that we know the $$$ just went to
particularly spectacular oil company earnings, it's a bit harder to take.

I've tried to justify it by saying well - many Americans hold big oil
company shares in mutual funds yadda yadda yadda. But frankly I'd rather see
lower prices at the pump.


Have we forgotten so soon?  Last fall, we had diesel at $3.39 
per gallon here, after Katrina.  We survived.  It's inching 
upwards again, but still nowhere near what it hit then...  At 
present, we're at $2.80.
