Re: [RC] Tipping the farrier - indiancp

if i had to pay those prices some of these horses would have to go!!  i have two blacksmiths.  one comes here and does the three that just get trimmed, twenty five each horse.  when he shoes it's sixty five per horse.  the other blacksmith shoes one of mine and i haul to him.  he charges forty five.
the horse i haul does not like the other blacksmith (can't imagine why but he actually seems to hate him).  i'd rather haul him to the one he does like than to have a knock down drag out each six to seven weeks so that's what we do.

I know where Margaret lives, she is down the road from me and $185 for 4 shoes is "average" pricing around here.  Not cheap, not expensive.  And if the guy does good work (alot of them around here don't) and doesn't have the "you should be thankful to have me" attitude, she is doing better than most of us in the area.

Three days ago, my bill for 4 shoes with clips and rolled toes was $185.00.  And my horse is well behaved!
