[RC] For those who give their own shots... - Sharon Levasseur

Is it only a significant savings if you have more than one horse?

I have one horse. I will only save about $20 overall if I buy some of the shots
online (valleyvet.com) and do them myself. Is there a cheaper source for
vaccines?

VET CHARGES
Rabies/PHF: $28.00
WNV/EWT: $40.00
Strangles : $25.00
Coggins: $34.00
Rh/F: $22.00
TOTAL: $149.00

I have to use the vet for Rabies and Coggins... can't find a WNV shot at
valleyvet... and don't want to try and do Strangles intranasally myself.
Here's how it breaks down... I only save around $20.

VET AND ME
Rabies (vet): $16.00
WNV (vet): $24.00
Strangles (vet): $25.00
Coggins (vet): $34.00
Rh/F (me): $14.25
EWT (me): $6.39
PHF (me): $8.59
TOTAL: $128.23

I suppose doing some of the shots myself would *not only* save $20, but would
also allow me to spread them out over the course of a few days to limit my
horse's soreness. I don't know, do y'all find it worth the effort?

Thanks,
