Thanks for the correction, kat and Heidi.

So, I guess I have to change my statement to: "I have personally made my poor horse colic by giving him too much e-lytes."

Ouch, liked the old "tummy ache" description better but just can't get away with anything on this forum. (Which is one of the things I love about it!) :-)

I must confess that I find this statement a bit unusual.  For ME, 'tummy
ache in my horse' is the definition of colic.

For those of you who make a distinction between these, at what 'stage' does
a tummy ache become colic?

It is difficult to talk about whether something causes colic or not if we
aren't all using the word colic in the same way.


Thanks for bringing that up, kat.  A colic is any sort of abdominal
discomfort.  It can range from a gas bubble with minor and transient
discomfort to a twisted gut resulting in intestinal death,
enterotoxemia, and death of the horse--and contains everything in
between.  So Dabney, being a legal beagle, should know that indeed, she
DID cause her horse to colic--albeit a mild case.
