Re: [RC] Old Age & Healthy - Sisu West Ranch

"...For every 100 year old, how many did not reach that
age?..."

There is pretty good evidence that modern medicine has not increased maximum lifespan by even one day. What modern medicine has done is to increase the average lifespan by many years.

Another complicating factor is that almost all of the popular press accounts of areas, tribes, villages etc. with lots of 100 year old people, the people live are in areas where there are no accurate records of births and deaths. Sure they are old, but were they really born in 1901? Is the name in the family bible theirs or their fathers? Old folk often like to add years to their lives, especially when there is no independent way to verify their age.

I would not be here to develop whatever old age diseases I will get that will require modern medicine it I had been born in a primitive society. When I was small I had scarlet fever. It was treated with the then new antibiotics. It would have either killed me, or messed up my heart leading to my early death. This strong possibility of my early death does not even begin to address the possibility of diphtheria, small pox, typhoid, cholera etc. They did a very good job of keeping the average age of death in the 30's during most of human history.
