Just an observation...lots of the foundered horses I've seen have been out on lush green pasture in late spring or early summer when their new shiny coats are on, not yet affected by the burning rays of the sun, and the long old dull winter coats have been recently cast off. Kathy - it is true that the one horse I've seen this coat on had been on lush cow pasture plus was pregnant, plus the ignorant person feeding her was feeding her alfalfa on top of it. So maybe that's why her coat looked so phenomenal. But somehow I thought I'd heard about the shiny coat thing some time ago in my dismally murky past.
