RE: [RC] Horse lists - Mike Sherrell

Our GP warned us that wounds are much more easily infected if they happen
around horses. He's big city, though, so maybe just a worry wart. Still, I
keep antibiotic ointment in the saddle bag, for me and for him.

All of my life, I have been careful to wash my hands before eating, after 1)
handling money and 2) petting a dog or cat, but I have never worried about
eating after handling horses.  Our cows aren't tame enough to lick our
hands, and I would guess it depended on which end of the cow I was touching,
or was touched by, before I would eat something without washing my hands.

The other day, one of her friends who carries hand sanitizer with her at all
times started telling the class how *dirty* we are...like one time...Josie
let a COW lick her hand...and then ate PRINGLES! >g<! Whereas this girl's
absent about once a week, we could give them a list of when Josie will be
absent at the start of the year...as soon as we figure out the ride
schedule. :-)
