Re: [RC] re Heating trailer dressing rooms. - Laney Humphrey

I have a Mr. Buddy propane heater than I light in the morning when I get up. I don't feel comfortable leaving it on when I'm asleep. I put a layer of egg carton foam under my mattress which helps insulate against cold coming up from the bottom. Then I pile on comforters, quilts, etc. and wear long johns, etc. My entire trailer is insulated which is also a tremendous help. I bought the trailer used and would not have thought to insulate but it came that way and boy am I glad. It keeps the horse compartment cooler going across the desert, and keeps me a bit warmer in the LQ since I don't have a built-in heater. It gets cold in the LQ when it gets down to 20 degrees or so at Grand Canyon multi-day but since I'm out riding all day I don't mind bundling up at night. Oh, bring a dog along too, that helps a lot!

Does anyone have any ideas about good ways to heat a trailer dressing room so that the gooseneck area is comfortable for sleeping? Price quotes on mounting a propane furnace are very high, and I have heard bad things about catalytic ( or tent ) heaters and lack of oxygen etc. I would appreciate if anyone has any experiences to share as to this issue.
