[RC] Lost Horses and Dogs - Steve Shaw

Thinking back about the lost horse at the Tevis start site and the upcoming hawking meet in Sac. made me think about offering something to ridecampers.
Falconers use telemetry almost 99% of the time with their birds. There are about 1000 or more falconers in Calif. alone. A simple transmitter costs about $200. This is for the newer models that have the shorter antennas. The older models with longer antennas would work fine on a horse and may be cheaper.

If a horse person had a transmitter attached to their horse, in the mane, and it was lost, I bet a local falconer would assist in finding it with their receiver. I'll be at the meet Jan. 11th.... and would explore this potential and the availability of the older/cheaper antennas if there is any interest in this from ridecamp. This would save in investing in an expensive receiver. Another thought would be for a club or group to buy a receiver together, which only needs to be used if a horse is lost!

Anyone can see these products at http://www.marshallradio.com

Let me know separate from ridecamp if anyone wants more information.
