Solid support as previously suggested AND the right saddle. His saddle might be a bit small or the wrong kind. I have a terrible time riding English for that reason.

BTW, Synergist makes room in their saddles. I tend not to have any problems when wearing my homeys and riding in a Synergist. A good well-fitting athletic supporter under riding tights should work just as well, but make sure that saddle is big enough.
