[RC] re: speed at multidays - Cindy CollinsWell, interesting thread. I hate to see all multiday rides painted with the same brush, though. I guarantee you that all the 50s I did on the XP this summer and in '01 were every inch of their mileage. One factor not considered in multiday success, at least with the XP rides, is the "fear of the Duck factor!" BTW, I, too, rode in the 1990 championship series and the final 2 day, 150 in Nevada. It was a pretty good concept. We each did two regional championship 100 milers, then the final 150. The championships were determined by the total points from the three events. It took some real horsemanship to do that many 100s in that time frame. I did one in Bishop, CA on 9/22 and the Armadillo 100 in Texas on 10/20, then the final race on 11/10. Also, what happened to the ribbons...there had been a motorcycle race in the area and some club riders were out cleaning trail and found the endurance ride ribbons. They thought they were left from their event and pulled them. We all did wander around the desert trying to find our way and ended up together in a wad at the end. Still, it was a wonderful experience and I felt very proud to be a part of it.
