Re: [RC] WEC - sehredt

WHAT???? Arab Sheiks were fighting and arguing amongst themselves????
Cheating each other???? Making false allegations and stealing each other's
trophies???? I'm shocked, SHOCKED! At least the Sheiks didn't car bomb each
other.

I think I'll keep riding in America - where we give the awards to the right
folks and then just flame 'em on Ridecamp
:o)

==========================================

The events at the so-called Awards Ceremony in Dubai after the World
Endurance Championship fill me with disgust. Why was HH Sheikh Hazza bin
Sultan deprived of his fairly-won Gold medal because of bogus allegations of
traces of a suspect substance in his blood sample?

All the riders, chefs d'equipe and crews at the Award Ceremony in the desert
knew perfectly well that the decision by the Dubai Organising Committee to
'eliminate' Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan was flawed.

No blood test results could possibly have come through that quickly, nor the
due FEI process been followed if any of the finalists' horses had shown a
hint of a prohibited substance.

These tests takes days, if not weeks, as followers of FEI events or racing
under Jockey Club rules well know. So why did a local Dubai TV station allege
a suspect blood sample for Hachim when not even the FEI officials had
received any lab reports from any horses? How could they put out such a
story? They certainly did not get it from the FEI.

No FEI-approved test results were produced before the Awards Ceremony, so
why did the Dubai Organising Committee take it upon themselves with no
evidence whatsoever to overturn the true result and deprive Sheikh Hazza of
his medal at the ceremony? Fortunately, the FEI headquarters in Switzerland
know the truth and have maintained throughout the correct results - winner:
HH Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan al Nahyan and Hachim; 2nd: Barbara Lissarague and
Georgat; 3rd: HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum and Nashmi.

Why is no-one suspicious? Why are reports focused on the innocent Hachim and
Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan while the guilty avoid suspicion. The grand larceny
at the Awards Ceremony looks like the biggest and cruellist con trick ever
played on Endurance competitors.

I understand that the FEI has written to the recipients of the
wrongly-presented awards to ask for their return so that the Gold may be
given to HH Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan. His horse Hachim also earned a Best
Conditioned award which was denied him at the ceremony.

There is another victim in this whole sorry affair - the integrity of the
sport itself. How can anyone compete again without fearing that a local
organising committee will take it upon themselves to overturn legitimate
results? What message does this give young people coming into the sport?

Sincerely,
Brenda Spradlin
