we feed a cup a day to our old and hard working horses, have been consistantly 
for over 2 years now.  they get that with just a bit of 10% cob and grass hay.  
My SO does most of the feeding, if ground flax was a have to thing they horses 
would have to learn to fend for themselves...  the 40 pound $27 bag of empower 
lasts 3 horses we have on it almost 3 months, it doesn't spoil and they all 
love it.  none get hot, although the 22 year old was this years NATRC hi point 
Arabian, and the soon 26 year old did 10 natrc rides at 24 and is still healthy 
and somewhat active..  my younger mare the 8 year old got fussy about food and 
wasn't conditioning up as well as i'd like when i started her on it in July 
last year..  the main problem with empower is when people over feed it or try 
to feed it as the only grain,..  my opinion is the directions on the bag are to 
sell feed and may be ok for a hi metabolism horse,...  an efficient arabian 
doesn't need near that much...  nutrena also has a feed called XTN to me it 
looks like empower combined with a really good feed all in one.  if money 
wasn't an issue and easy feeding was i'd probably feed xtn.  JMHO...  and i 
don't get paid by them either.
