As with all things, a modicum of reality is occasionally called for.
Fayette de Cameo's recent excursion into the murky waters of international competition highlighted the fact that THE RIDER's contribution to "longevity" is integral.
 
In my estimation, more horses have made riders, than riders have made horses...the greatest "endurance blood" can sure be "thinned out" by inexperienced riders, at all levels.
 
Balance, with a critical eye and a compassionate soul will go a long way down the trail, regardless of breed.
