Re: [RC] Stirrup Safety - Kristen A Fisher

My feet came out just fine going forward over the right shoulder - twice.

Beth, I can say with full authority -- and from far too much experience <BG> -- that your feet will come right out of EZ-Ride stirrups (whether nylon or aluminum) when your Arab does his "exit, stage left!" maneuver and you go flying off sideways. That's the only direction I've ever come off, so I can't say whether your feet will come out as quickly if you go over the horse's head. The wide base makes it very difficult for your foot to slip through, and if you get the style with safety cages, there's no danger of that happening at all. The new EZ-Rides have a smaller safety cage that gets caught less in branches and vines too, and doesn't bang your knees up so badly when you carry the saddle around, very nice.
