Re: [RC] Training a young QH - gary affleck

You are correct about the most finishes, it was Thunders Lighting Bar a quarter horse Mare, ridden by Pat Chaddel.  But you'll have to check her stats as to how far up the ladder she was on placing.  Out of all the Tevis' Arabians have won 42, Part Arabs 6, Thoroughbred Cross2 and 1 mustang.  I looked at finishes and found only a couple Quarters that even finished.  As per the most finishers as of riders were Barbara White 27, Hal V Hall 24, Julie Suhr 22, John McCullough 20, and Roxanne Greene 20 , I believe all were on Arabs.  6 horses completed 10 or more Tevis' besides Thunders, Buffalo Bill, Rainaff, El Karbaj, Rocky, and Shatir and I believe all were Arabs except for Thunders.  Quarter horses are great horses, I love them all but if you look at the stats on the Tevis Thunders was a freak of nature.  Probably only a hand full of Quarters even started the Tevis, which actually makes that horse even more special.  G.Affleck

I think the horse with the most Tevis finishes is a QH.
