[RC] red ribbons and kicking - heidi larson

At the Clinton Anderson clinic my horse and I attended last year, a gal brought in a TB mare with a red ribbon in her tail.  (There were 18 horse/rider pairs in one arena.)  Clinton started working her horse as she was being a bitch for the lady, aggressive and pretty obnoxious, the ribbon fell on the ground and as she ran over to pick it up, Clinton said, "you know what a red ribbon means to me?  I just need a good ass-kickin'!"  You know, she never put that ribbon back on that mare and she never kicked all weekend.  And we worked in some pretty close quarters at times.  I can tell you, Ash knew who the kickers were, he'd avoid them when we did our cruising lesson.  (Put em' in a trot and drop the reins and just keep trottin'.  18 pairs out there trotting wherever the horses wanted to go, no guiding was allowed.)  I thought for sure someone would die that day, but no one did!!!
