RE: [SPAM] [RC] Horse Color - heidi

A friend recently bought a breed stock paint mare at
the auction. Nice, really nice horse. Trail bomb
proof. The question is that the picture as a foal
shows FOUR WHITE SOCKS. The mare only has two. Can
foals be born with socks and then change to solid ?
The blaze on the mare's head is exactly the same as
the foal picture.

True white markings do not go away over time. That said, however, many
foals have buff-colored hair on the solid-colored legs that can appear
white. Is there a definite line of demarkation on the two white
"socks" that are not there anymore? If not, I would suspect that they
were not socks at all, but rather were the buff-colored baby coat that
is normal on legs.

Sometimes that buff color can drive you nuts trying to draw white
markings on foals' legs...
