Is the mare chestnut?  Very young chestnut foals often have very light-colored legs, making it kinda hard to really distinguish the white markings.  If the pic is of her when she was very young, perhaps it only appears that she has 4 whites in the foal photo?  Especially depending on the lighting?

A friend recently bought a breed stock paint mare at
the auction.  Nice, really nice horse.  Trail bomb
proof.  The question is that the picture as a foal
shows FOUR WHITE SOCKS.  The mare only has two.  Can
foals be born with socks and then change to solid ?
The blaze on the mare's head is exactly the same as
the foal picture.
