[RC] Just how "evil" is alfalfa? THANKS! - Jennifer Fleet

I want to say thanks to everybody who took the time to email me privately or who posted to the list with their thoughts on feeding alfalfa vs. other hays, and 24/7 turnout vs. individual paddock.

Except for a couple of responses I got, the general concesus is that I stay with option B (which is what I'm doing now - keeping him separate so I have control of his diet and can feed grassy hay).

I was kind of leaning that way anyway, but guess I needed to hear it was "okay" to keep him in a small paddock....I feel so guilty when I think of the life he had in Oregon before I bought him....80 acres of lush pasture running with his buddies.  :(    Oh well, he's such a "person" horse that I bet he enjoys the daily attention he gets now more than spending days and days in pasture without any human attention like he did before.   The previous owner told me he was always came to the fence whinnying if he spotted anybody nearby.  :)

Thanks again!
Jennifer
