[RC] Ground Control shoes - washers on the nails? - Lucy Chaplin Trumbull

Has anyone used washers (or similar) on the nails
holding on Ground Controls shoes?

On the recommendation of my vet, one of my horses who
was diagnosed with "sore feet" is currently wearing
GC shoes to protect against concussion. The only
problem I've had with the shoes (apart from foot
cleaning being somewhat fiddly) is that I've had
several instances of the nails being pulled through
the holes in the shoe, so they end up looking like
flip-flops - only attached at the front, with the
nails now being under the shoe and getting jammed
into the foot.

Any thoughts?
