Well said, Kim. Having seen the National Show Horse ride in on the coattails of the Purebred and Anglo Arabian, only to give AHRA the boot after they became  a stable ( no pun intended) money-making machine in its own right, the issue of "using" another organization as a platform is a real thorn in my side. In addition, USING the HORSES from AERC to perform as flat racers can be abusive - and certainly choosing a team based upon AERC experience appears to be a mistake. The sorriest aspect is that, in order to be aware of the limits of a sport, someone eventually is hurt - or dies. Flat distance racing is a very difefrent sport. There really is little comparison. Perhaps it is time for it to be on its own altogether.

The problem is is that those that want to "race" and compete internationally want to use the AERC venue as their platform and that is what seems not to be working well anymore.
