My favorite gloves for riding when it is really cold, or wet -- are ski gloves. Not the really thick kind of ski gloves, so my hands still work, but they are warm and waterproof and breathable. I think I got mine from Sierra Trading Post. I've also got some barn gloves that are thinsulate insulated and are goretex, so even if my hands get wet filling troughs, they stay warm and dry.
