RE: [RC] [RC] Let's talk endurance goals for '06 - Amber B Fort

I am beginning to agree with you on this one. "My goal is to have access to a truck that runs and a horse that trots..."

I have been planning to attempt our first 50 at the end of Jan 06'.

This weekend was flubbed up due to orange season being in and major horse eating monsters abounding through the groves. My 3 hour/attempt at getting 15 miles done turned into 2 hours/5miles (at least it was through soft stuff almost like sand) and this was after the attempt at earning that 'Ride by the seat of your pants' award.

First obstacle was finding the time to get my horse and myself ready (mostly me).  I was finally able to find someone to watch my one year old daughter for a few hours one day during the week so I could ride more than 'just on the weekend when daddy could do it'.

The plan was to take the child to Grandma's Mon evening to spend the night so I could ride Tue early am.  Well the one mare I have been waiting on to come into season so we could get her cultured was in "flaming heat' this am, so we are off to the vet in the morning (the morning skeduled for riding is shot).

Then of course, Wilma, put a big dent in things when she wiped out our barns.  So everytime it rains, my now roofless stalls are a mess (often in Florida). Which next weekend will be compounded by the fact that I HAVE to bring 4 more horses home (mares turned out and getting close to foaling).

It just seams that everytime I try to get in some ride time, something comes up. I know I keep hearing (pertaining to riding a 50) 'Just do it".  Well, sometimes it 'Just Ain't Happening!"

Sorry for the whine, will try to 'cowgirl up' now.

Boy...ya'll sure aren't superstitious! Haven't you ever heard "If you
want to make God laugh tell him your plans"? I like to shoot low and
avoid being made an example of. My goal is to have access to a truck that
runs and a horse that trots...whether it's mine or borrowed...the rest is
gravy. :-)
