RE: [RC] [RC] FW: [RC] Trails/Warnings that bikers are coming - RHONDA LEVINSON

People have been talking about horses knowing that bikes are there. I don't know about this. Twice I've had horses not notice bikers. Once, I was even on a fairly open road and my old gelding and I were just zipping down the road having a great time. Apparently neither one of us was paying much attention to anything -- just enjoying the day. A biker came up behind and went around us and neither of us had seen him or heard him ahead of time. My horses startled, but didn't go anywhere, but the bicyclist immediately stopped to be sure we were okay. He also apologized and said he should have said something before passing. I assured him we were fine and should have been paying more attention, but I sure appreciated his concern and courtesy.

The second time, some bikers came zooming out of the trees as we were crossing the trail they were on. Luckily, we were not that close, the horse was sure frightened and tried to bolt. The trees were so thick that even the horse didn't see or hear them.
