[RC] LD BC - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I've been a ride manager for 20 years and from the very first LD ride that I
put on I have always awarded BC for LD using the AERC form. There are very few
rides in the Mountain region that don't award LD BC's using the AERC form.
Contrary to popular myth, horses are not dropping at the finish line. Using the
form, doesn't promote racing. Besides, how legitimate is a BC award given to
the horse who takes every minute of 6 hours to complete the ride carrying a
featherweight rider against a horse who takes 4 hours(hardly racing) carrying a
middleweight. Judging 20-50 or 100 horses is ludicrous. The bottom line (and I
agree totally with Peggy on this)is that if AERC is going to have an award for
BC for LD's everybody should have to play by the same rules. If some
regions/rides are doing it and others aren't then the riders in those regions
are not getting the same opportunity to win the award.
