Re: [RC] Stomach Edema - rdcarrie

 One thing that comes to mind is a hernia (don't panic, it's not necessarily a huge crisis).  What does it feel like?  Does it seem painful when you palpate (feel) it?  If not, feel/probe gently and see if it's solid, soft, etc., and whether you can feel "edges" inside under the skin.  Or is it just some kinda diffuse puffiness?  I'd get your vet to take a peek at it.  If it is a hernia, there are different degrees/severities.  Some need surgery, some just need watching.

==========================================

My 24 year old gelding has now decided to get my attention with
an edema that runs along the left side of his stomach. It does
not seem to go as far as the armpit, and is about 4 inchs off
midline, only on the left and about small child wrist size, and several inches
long. His heart sounds good, and he is happy,
eating and drinking, moving fine. Gums and eyes look good. Any
guess as to what this could be?

Thanks,
Skyla
