Re: [RC] [RC] [RC]AQAH vs AHA (was AHA Sweepstakes Program from the horses mout... - Nat Nelson

Herein lies a HUGE rub - the most "popular"
stallions really and truly are not - NOT -
representative of the best of the Arabian heritage. In
32 years with this beautiful breed, the strange
proclivities for "snaky necks", "extreme heads",
"tabletop croups", trotty and stretchy and level and
....well, you get the drift.>>

That goes as well in any breed. Quarter horses and
paint halter horses have evolved into massivly muscled
horses wieghing up to 1800 lbs on a 16 hand frame with
00 feet. Not my ideal of an athlete. However, when
stripped of their weight many do excell in the
perfomance classes. But fortantly there is more to a
showing than halter and there are popular stallions in
all disaplines that demand high stud fees.

Far too many stallions garner dozens and even
HUNDREDS of mares each year because they were what,
NAtional Halter Champion when they were 3 or 4 years
old last year?>>

If there is a market they will come, with open
pockets. Why, because like begets like and those
popular stallions will produce what is winning in the
show ring.

Take a look at the disbursement of moniees in the
program and you will see where the priorities lie.>>

That was in the past - remember the AHA is revamping
the program. Sounds like it will be benificial to all
disaplines, including endurance.
