Using cadaver tissue is much less invasive than using hamstring or patella tendon grafts. I torn my ACL in February and had it replaced with cadaver tissue in March. The doctor gave me the option of cadaver tissue or a patella tendon graft. I did the research on both methods and decided on the cadaver tissue. I now have 7 little holes instead of one long scar. The cadaver tissue takes atleast 4 months to fully attach and receive its blood flow. You do not want to risk tearing it during this time. My doctor was very cautious about my resuming riding even though I ride Paso Finos. I took his advice and didn't even try until after 4 months. Even then I rode my very calm mare. Because it was my left knee the only real problem I had was during mounting. After 6 months my doctor gave me the full go ahead to return to my normal activities. As others have said - take it easy and do that physical therapy! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
