Re: [RC] Beet Pulp - Diane Trefethen

Hi Vicki,

I think you have something with the time thing. Tonight was first time I used extra water. At first it was so watery I thought SURELY I'll have to add more BP but by the time I had added grain and corn oil (what, 3 mins?), the mixture wasn't much soupier than the previous night. The thought crossed my mind that maybe, only maybe, adding more water was going the wrong direction. If you add just enough water to make the BP moist so it can't cause choke, perhaps it never gets sticky?
We need a research paper here!

I have noticed that if I soak my beet pulp for a long time, say several hours, it does get thick and sticks to the sides of my container, so I will add a little more water just before feeding. Now I add water only 15 minutes or so before feeding, and it has soaked up the water but isn't pasty yet, kind of like when you add water to oatmeal but don't cook it. I've never had a problem with it yet. Vicki and Moon
