Re: [RC] stolen saddle - abigail Madden

One of the best ways to mark your property is with your driver's license number.  Some times names are hard to track down (people move, get married/divorced), but your DL # is very easy for law enforcement.  I burned my initials, DL#, and the state (CA) under the flap of my saddle.  In states bordering mine, law enforcement usually recognize the numeric pattern of different license numbers (i.e. Oregon & Nevada would recognize a California DL #), but if my saddle made it all the way to Texas they wouldn't know which state to "run" the number out of.  So, if you use the DL #  add the state abbreviation as well.  Your name or initials help, but don't rely just on that.

Last night a friend's saddle was stolen out of a locked tack locker at
the boarding facility where our horses live in Carmel Valley, CA. (The
lock was cut.) The saddle is a BLACK Sharon Saare Lite trail saddle with
a horn. 15" seat, D tree, basketweave tooling. The owner's name, Pam
Bonsper, is engraved under the gullet. The saddle is approximately 3
years old and is in good condition. When taken, it had a black saddle
bag and girth on it. Her headstall, bit and reins were also stolen. If
you see such a saddle, please contact me or the Monterey County, CA,
sheriff's department immediately.
Thanks,
Laney
