[RC] Specialized Saddles - Linda Nichols

Title: Specialized Saddles
I tried a Specialized saddle on my horse today. I really liked it and I think my horse really liked it as well. It was the International model with English rigging and centered stirrups. I liked the way I could post without clawing my way out of the saddle the way I feel I have to do in my Western saddle. I also didn’t feel like I was having to grab at the stirrups, another problem I have in my Western saddle. I really really liked it. There are just 2 concerns I have with that saddle. The first concern is with the neoprene pads that are part of the fitting system. Neoprene gets really hot and I’m worried that would be a problem on a long distance ride. The other concern was that there was some rubbing in the loin area after taking the saddle off. I know that Specialized has a whole system for custom fitting the saddle using various shims so I am hoping that I would be able to solve that problem. The salesperson had me using a Woolback pad only. She didn’t seem concerned about the rub marks but I know that after 30 miles those will be hot spots. Can I use a Skito pad with the Specialized saddle? On her web site she says you can use HAF pads with the Specialized but I think those are the same as a Skito pad. Do any of you have any insight to give me?
